Spew Pits/Las Lagunas
A reef has its name for a reason! Super hollow spitting barrels. A popular spot, located N of the harbour in Cotillo, which gets busy when the N shore is small. If the sirocco is on, winds will blow E for long periods of time, and that's offshore!

Cotillo (South Beach)
At the S end of this dusty, Mexican-style village is a long sandy beach. The seabed has a distinctive ledge that causes the waves to jack up in virtually the same place whatever the tide state or well size. It's a popular wave-jumping spot and at the N end there's protection from N winds.

Playa de Esquinzo
This is relatively hard to find and consequently crowd-free. The break receives a lot of swell and works best at high tide. Esquinzo is signposted off the main road N of La Oliva: from there the road leads through the desert following an unmarked road with many unmarked turn-offs. If you don't end up here, you could well end up somewhere better. Good luck!

Derecha de los Alemanes
There are quality rights to be found in the W of the bay referred to as Hierro. The crowds often don't travel this far along the N track. Optimum conditions here are a N or NW swell of any size (it can hold a swell) and a S wind.

Hierro-Derecha (The Bubble)
Also known as 'The Bubble', but referred to by locals as 'The Right', this is one of the most consistent waves on the N shore. It breaks on the reef at the eastern fringe of the bay, located about 1 km (830yd) west of Majanicho. This is a right of exceptional quality, which tubes mercilessly on a typically sharp and shallow volcanic reef. There is also a less critical left. The most popular - and safer - times are mid to high tide, but it can get too crowded. Small circular shelters have been set up in front of the break.

Majanicho
About halfway along the car-battering N track lies a ram shackled fishing village. The bay, which the village has been built around, can provide right reef/point waves. They remain surfable up to a good size, but even if it isn't big, watch out! It can be a dangerous place to wipe out.

Mejillones
This break picks up more swell than most of Fuerteventura' spots. Peaky rights and lefts break in relatively deep water (for Fuerteventura). It's a popular spot, but because the peaks shift, the crowds are spread around the point.

Suicides/Suicidios
A good but seldom-surfed reef breaking in shallow water. Suicides is an apt name - mistakes can be painful! There is no indicator as to the location of the break, but generally it's about 1 km (830yd) W of Generosa.

Generosa
Another hollow left. The waves can be good here and it doesn't get as crowded as many of the other breaks. About 1 km (830yd) after Bristol is a slight run off to the right. The waves will not be visible unless the swell is huge.

Bristol/Shooting Gallery
A left reef facing NE. Low tide at Bristol is hollow, shallow and fast, The higher the tide, the easier it gets. At high Shooting Gallery breaks on the inside. A popular wave-jumping and bodyboarding spot that can become crowded.

El Muelle/Harbour Wall
Behind the harbour wall in Corralejo lies this deservedly popular left; low tide is best. Many of the locals learnt to surf at this break due to its proximity to Corralejo, give the grommies their space!
Bajo del Medio/Rocky Pt
One of Fuerteventura's most popular spots. With a large swell it is shorter to jump in off the end of the harbour wall and paddle across to the break. For surfers the right can be very good, becoming hollow & fast at medium to low tide. The left tends to be more suited to beginners when it's small. Whatever the conditions Rocky Point is a long paddle & unfortunately becomes crowded very quickly. On big days you can paddle in from the end of the harbour wall this si a shorter distance juts watch out for the ferry's!

Los Lobos
A small volcanic island (6.5 sqkm/2.55 sqmi), Los Lobos is named after the seals who used to feed in the fish-rich waters that surround it. With a N or NW swell and S or E wind, it can provide 400 m (360yd) rides with fast walling sections and clean tubes. On a big day, swell can be seen from Fuerteventura as it powers its way around the island Camping permits are required to camp on the island.
